Hoje, ela j\u00e1 foi observada e comprovada em obras residenciais, rodovi\u00e1rias, industriais e subterr\u00e2neas, afetando seu desempenho mec\u00e2nico e durabilidade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O Guia de preven\u00e7\u00e3o da rea\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e1lcali-agregado \u00e9 uma publica\u00e7\u00e3o do IBRACON veio para simplificar a compreens\u00e3o do fen\u00f4meno e das medidas para sua mitiga\u00e7\u00e3o em obras de concreto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>DEF<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No concreto, as part\u00edculas de cimento reagem com a \u00e1gua, formando compostos com a caracter\u00edstica de unir os agregados, como a areia e as britas. Nesse processo qu\u00edmico exot\u00e9rmico, denominado hidrata\u00e7\u00e3o do cimento, um dos compostos \u00e9 a etringita prim\u00e1ria. Quando as temperaturas de hidrata\u00e7\u00e3o do cimento ficam acima de 65\u00b0C, pode ocorrer de a etringita se dissolver em materiais sol\u00faveis. Esses materiais sol\u00faveis podem, por seu turno, formar novamente a etringita, quando o concreto se esfria devido ao esgotamento progressivo das rea\u00e7\u00f5es de hidrata\u00e7\u00e3o. Como isso acontece no momento em que o concreto est\u00e1 endurecido, essa etringita tardia formada (DEF, na sigla em ingl\u00eas) acaba por preencher as cavidades ao redor dos agregados, exercendo press\u00f5es de expans\u00e3o no interior da pe\u00e7a de concreto, o que pode levar \u00e0 sua fissura\u00e7\u00e3o e comprometer seu desempenho e durabilidade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tanto a RAA quanto a DEF comprometem a vida \u00fatil das estruturas de concreto e apresentam, em condi\u00e7\u00f5es de campo, fei\u00e7\u00f5es muito similares, a ponto de poderem ser confundidas \u00e0 primeira vista. No entanto, enquanto a RAA foi descoberta em 1940, a DEF foi descoberta em 1980.
