Formado em engenharia civil na Universidade de Bras\u00edlia &#8211; UnB em 1979, fez mestrado em Engenharia de Estruturas na PUC-RJ (1984) e doutorado na <em>University of Westminster<\/em> (1990), Inglaterra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Como bolsista rec\u00e9m-doutor, recebeu convite dos professores Marcello da Cunha Moraes, um dos fundadores do IBRACON, e Jo\u00e3o Carlos Teatini, seu supervisor no seu primeiro emprego como engenheiro, para colaborar na implanta\u00e7\u00e3o do Programa de Mestrado em Estruturas da Unb, onde inaugurou a linha de pesquisa em pun\u00e7\u00e3o em lajes lisas e em refor\u00e7o de estruturas com materiais comp\u00f3sitos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Em sua carreira acad\u00eamica, foi adjunto e coordenador das Engenharias I da Capes, no per\u00edodo de 2002 a 2010, quando participou de quatro Avalia\u00e7\u00f5es dos Programas de P\u00f3s-Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o do Brasil e do Conselho T\u00e9cnico Cient\u00edfico. Foi tamb\u00e9m diretor de Engenharias, Ci\u00eancias Exatas, Humanas e Sociais, de 2011 a 2015, do CNPq, onde colaborou com aa implanta\u00e7\u00e3o de diversos projetos importantes de est\u00edmulo e forma\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica e tecnol\u00f3gica.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guilherme Sales Soares de Azevedo Melo \u00e9 professor da Universidade de Bras\u00edlia desde 1993.
