Atualmente, a principal conex\u00e3o entre as cidades \u00e9 realizada por balsas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O projeto do T\u00fanel Imerso (IMT) \u00e9 uma alternativa complementar fixa para atender ao transporte e expans\u00e3o portu\u00e1ria da regi\u00e3o. Ele foi coordenado pela Secretaria dos Transportes Metropolitanos do Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo e desenvolvido entre 2015 e 2018.
